FashionPrints That Clash, Outfits That Work
By Sara Tilla
Good layers, interesting proportions and pieces you can keep in rotation.

A useful outfit formula leaves room for your taste. These five combinations are starting points for a cooler day, not a shopping list or a prediction of what everyone will wear.
1. A roomy knit, straight trousers and a structured bag. Let the knit provide the volume, then keep the trousers clean through the leg. A bag with a defined shape gives the softer pieces a point of contrast.
2. A shirt, a long skirt and an easy jacket. Try a partial tuck or leave the shirt loose; compare both before adding accessories. Keep the jacket short enough, or long enough, for the overlap to feel intentional.
3. Denim, a close-fitting base and a longer coat. A simple base makes it easier to notice the line of the outer layer. Choose shoes that work with the hem rather than hiding underneath it.
4. Tonal separates with one textured detail. Combine shades from the same colour family, then add a ribbed knit, a woven scarf or a suede-effect bag.
5. A dress, a cardigan and flat shoes. Begin with the dress you already like, then use the cardigan to change how formal it feels. Try the whole combination in motion before calling it ready.
