FashionPrints That Clash, Outfits That Work
By Sara Tilla
An evening approach to jeans, built around contrast rather than a complete change of wardrobe.

Keep the jeans, change the context. An evening denim outfit becomes more interesting when one surrounding piece brings a different texture or shape.
Try a fluid shirt with a relatively simple pair of jeans. The contrast can be enough on its own; check whether the collar looks better open, buttoned or sitting beneath a jacket.
Alternatively, keep the top plain and make jewellery the focus. A sculptural earring or a necklace with an unusual line can give familiar clothing a different rhythm. Choose one detail first, then decide whether anything else is needed.
Shoes do not have to mean heels. A flat with a defined shape can make the outfit feel considered, particularly when the hem leaves it visible. Think about the walk to dinner as well as the view in the mirror.
Finish with the layer you will actually bring. An evening look is most useful when it still works on the journey home.
